Nagpur City, it appears, is facing the wrath of Rain God. The drops are eluding the city since the past 15-odd days and thus leaving the citizens and farmers high and dry. That too in the month of July, historically the much wetter month of monsoon season. August has too arrived but the showers are not blessing the area leading to prevailing of hot and humid weather conditions. No rain is creating its own problems like water shortage, health hazards, seasonal business vis-à-vis raincoats, umbrellas etc. Farmers are taking the maximum brunt in many ways.
Monsoon clouds hover but prove a mirage. Few drops here and there bring no cheers. Citizens are expecting heavy to very heavy rains regardless of dozens of problems the deluging water would create. After facing disastrous (Rain fury) situation last year that left several people dead and property worth crores damaged, farmers have this year focused their eyes on the skies and are praying for rains, again. But the relief appears distant.
However, other parts of Nagpur Division are happy. The 44-odd Tehsils of region have received heavy showers recently. Wardha was most cheerful. It has recorded 200.10 mm rainfall in the past few days followed by Ashti 200 mm, Arvi 196 mm, Karanja 184.70 mm, Devli 131 mm, Samudrapur 127 mm, Hinganghat 114.40 mm, and Selu 7.8 mm, the least. Places in Nagpur District, other than city, too received good rain. Narkhed Tehsil received the maximum rainfall, 156.20 mm followed by Ramtek 155 mm, Kamptee 142, Umred 135.10 mm, Katol 133.40, Kuhi 128.40 mm, Parshioni 128 mm, Saoner 123.60 mm, Mouda 121.40 mm, Hingna 120.30 mm, Bhiwapur 107 mm, and the least 103 mm in Kalmeshwar
