IMG_2736Nagpur: Republican Party of India (RPI) Chief and Member of Parliament Ramdas Athawale has appealed to the Central Government to take quick decisions to provide immediate relief to the masses. Though Athawale’s party is associate to the government at the Centre and in the State, he is of the view that the ‘speeches’ do not bear fruits in public interest, rather the government should take quick decisions to provide relief to the masses.

He was talking to media persons in the city on Tuesday, July 14. According to him, the time-to-time announcements of GDP figures will not benefit the public, which wants realistic measures of quick relief. Pointing out at the rising incidents of Dalit-atrocities in various states, he demanded that the government must act quickly to check them. He also demanded from the government setting up of more fast-track courts to expedite trials of cases.

Replying to a query posed by media about offering to him a ministerial berth, he said, what to talk of a ministerial berth, he even does not have a permanent house to live in Delhi; he, in fact, lives in Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi. He however clarified that when he had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Gujarat Bhavan on May 24, 2014, there was scope of providing him a berth in the ministry when expanded. But, thereafter neither was the cabinet expanded nor was he given a ministerial berth, he lamented, adding that he was still hopeful.

On the question of tug-of-war between BJP and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, he advised that both of them should avoid confrontation of any sort.
