: Hundreds of Pharmacy Students affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) staged demonstrations in front of the Vice Chancellor’s office on Monday, July 21, 2014 to press their demand for continuation of supplementary exam.

A similar demand was made last year too. The 3rd year and final year students of pharmacy colleges had demanded for supplementary exams since they had been shifted to CBS pattern from annual exam pattern. Their demand was accepted by the Nagpur University then. But the demand was accepted only for one year i.e. for the academic year 2013.

According to the Board of Examination (BOE) meeting held on August 5, 2013, a decision was taken that the students of Bachelor of Pharmacy (Annual pattern) 1st, 2nd, 3rd and final year would be allowed to give supplementary only in 2013 and from the next year onwards they will have to appear for Winter Examination.

Vice Chancellor Vilas Sapkal had extended another one year relief to the students. The students were allowed to appear for the supplementary exams.

The Students of Pharmacy had again gathered in front of RTMNU on July 21, 2014 and staged agitation to press their demand that they may get to appear in annual pattern exam again. The students stood in front of RTMNU office braving the rains throughout the day. Only after discussions and deliberations with the Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. Vinayak Deshande and after his assurance, that he will look into the issue, did the students withdraw.
