Nagpur: The row over the film Padmavati is refusing to die down. Now it is even echoing in Maharashtra Legislative Council with the BJP MLA demanding ban on it.

Raising the issue of Padmavati, BJP MLA Surjit Singh said that in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Padmavati and Allauddin Khilji are shown in front of each other whereas according to history Padmavati and khilji never met face to face. The history of Padmavati is of chivalry and sacrifice. Through this film History as well as Padmavati has been insulted. “There is intense protest is in entire country as well as Maharashtra against the film, which is why I have raised the issue in Legislative Council going on Nagpur and have demanded that it should not be released in Maharashtra, in be banned.” He further said that if at all it has be released then the historians should consulted as which scenes should be cut.
