Nagpur: President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), Asaduddin Owaisi while addressing a public rally (Jalsa-e-Aam) the congregation of Bheem Sena and youth members of MIM challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi that if he wants to substantiate his claim of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas” (Collective Efforts, Inclusive Growth), then he should ask Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis to give reservation to Muslim brethren of Maharashtra. He claimed that Muslims have been facing the brunt of injustice for a long time. Owaisi claimed that according to Article 15 and 16 of Indian Constitution, they should get reservations. He claimed that it is their fundamental right.

Owaisi, while taking a dig at the Congress and NCP which ruled Maharashtra for the last 15 years have not done justice for the Muslims in the state. He claimed that Muslim brethren are socially and educationally backward.

Owaisi claimed that according to the Sachar Committee Report, Raghunath Mishra Commision Report and Kundu Committee Report claimed that Muslims in India are socially and educationally backward.

All that the Congress and NCP did was to ensure that they get seats and did nothing for the Muslims and the Dalit who elected them. If they wanted they could have taken out an Ordinance, brought the issue to the Assembly and take out a Bill, which they never did that.

In Maharashtra, during the last Assembly session, they raised the issue of Reservation for the Marathas, while Muslim reservation issue was still pending before them. However, they raised the issue in the Parliament. It was only after the High Court challenged the Reservations for the Marathas that the issue died down. The honourable High Court Owaisi claimed had said that Muslims can be given reservations and not Marathas. Owaisi claimed that the Court had opined that the Muslims can be given reservations as an Exception.

Owaisi while addressing the jam packed Budha Park ground in Asi Nagar said that they say that Owaisi always makes controversial statements, Owaisi has a bitter tongue. However, people never understand my problem. We have faced humiliation and injustice for the past 67 years. He demanded the leaders to do justice at least now; He reiterated that the Article 15 and 16 of Indian Constitution entitles us to equal status and opportunities for social and educational fields. He claimed that the Muslims are backward in both these fields since they do not get reservations and they do not have financial support to pursue education.

Owasis (1)Owaisi quoted from the Survey report conducted by Tata Institute of Social Sciences in 2009 said that 21.8 % of Muslims in Maharashtra are illiterate. 9.2 % Muslims are living below poverty line. He went on to add that 28.5% drop out from Primary School, 15.6% from Secondary Schools. Owaisi claimed that only 2.2% Muslim Children complete Graduation. Is this justice, asked Owaisi? He said that if my words are bitter to your ears, it is because of injustice meted out to us.

He asked why should Muslims in Maharashtra not get reservation. Owaisi added that as low as 0.03% get Medical degrees. Owaisi asked the crowd of youth that is it wrong of Muslim parents to dream of their children completing their schooling, their graduation and getting gainful employment?

Owaisi went on the quote the Sachar Committee report on how many Muslim houses in Maharashtra actually have a toilet.

Owasis (3)People say that Owaisi is communal; Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen is communal. Yes I am communal because of the injustice meted out to us. He claimed that majority of Muslim houses have no toilets in their houses.

Owaisi then said that if his voice can reach the Headquarters of RSS in Nagpur then let them hear it. Owaisi claimed that people say that he has a Kadvi Zaban (Bitter Tongue) because he cannot sit and talk flattery words but can speak only what is the truth. If you don’t like to hear the truth, then you can stuff cotton into your ears and sit quietly.

Owaisi went on to challenge the Chief Minister and said that if you cannot do justice, who will. Why do you hate Muslims?

Owaisi went on to quote from the report of Mohammed Ur Rehman who gave statistical data of number of Muslim families living in Kuchha (thatched) huts.

Owaisi then urged the youth to get up and start fighting for their rights. He said that if they do not get up and fight for their rights now, their children will ask them in the future that had they fought for their rights then, they would have enjoyed good education, good opportunities then. Owaisi added that now a time has come for their dreams to come true.

OwasisOwaisi went on to say that Maharashtra Police has only 4% Muslims. To add to that only 2 or 3 % are IPS Officers and 2 or 3% are IAS Officers.

Owaisi then took a dig at the Nagpur Police. He said that when he landed in the city early morning, he wanted to take rest and catch up on his lost sleep. Suddenly he got the scent. The scent of the police. He opened the door to find the Assistant Commissioner of Police waiting for him. The ACP then gave him a 144-1 letter (time restriction of his speech till 9 pm) which he called the Love Letter. He claimed that if he did not receive this letter he gets irritation.

However Owaisi said that Nagpur is a city of Peace (Aman). He said that Insha Allah (Be It the Will of Allah) that this Aman continues.

He then went to ask the Chief Minister of the State, where is justice for the Dalits. He claimed that he visited the Dalit family who had lost three members of their family in Jawakheda. He claimed that these three members were cut into pieces like Radish and Carrots (Mooli and Gajar) and spread in a field of 2 acres like one would spread fertilizers. Who will do justice for the bereaved family? Why was the issue not raised in the Parliament? He claimed that he is surely going to raise the issue in Parliament.

Owaisi then went to take a dig at the Prime Minister and asked him that if he believes in what he claimed in the Parliament on February 26, 2015 saying that the only religion of my Government is India first, then why did he not reprimand Chief of RSS Mohan Bhagwat who made vile remarks of a Nun (Mother Teresa) who was awarded Nobel Prize? If PM claims that his book is the Constitution of India and not the works of Veer Savarkar or Guruji Golwalkar, then where is the justice for minorities in India? Instead of just preaching, practice or put into deeds, what you preach.

Owaisi went on to say that recently the Chhattisgarh Government has passed an ordinance which says that even Government employees can become members of RSS. He took a slight dig by saying Muslims too have many sects and fanatic groups.

He took a dig at the Ghar Wapsi (returning home) campaign run by some fanatic Hindu organizations, he claimed that no Dalit, Christian or Muslim who is a true follower of the religion will ever turn back and nobody in the world has powers to make them return to Hinduism.

He went on to say that the Constitution has given us the Fundamental right to choose, practice and follow any religion.

Owaisi then went to take a dig at the Prime Minister and asked where is the 15, 000, 00/- (Rupees Fifteen Lakhs)? He claimed that people are going to ask Modi, where is the fifteen lakhs you promised. When will it come? First the PM said that every poor person will get 15 lakhs. Then he said that first open an Account in the Bank under the “Jan Dhan Yojana”. But now he says that after I die, the family members will get Rs 2 lakhs.

At the start of the public address of Owaisi it was just drizzling. However, when it started pouring, Owaisi asked the audience if they minded getting wet? When the frenzied youth said no, he continued and claimed that it is the blessing of almighty God that is pouring down. He then went to take a dig at the government and said that give us permission and we’ll hold rallies in Dhulia, Akola and all such places which have water scarcities and it will start raining there too solving water scarcity problems.
