The party, led by Leader of Opposition Vikas Thakre demanded the Mayor to clear the stand of Ruling Party and Administration over the contentious issue of Property Tax hike. Similarly, the Opposition members rushed to the Chair of the Mayor and shouted slogans against the hike. In the chaos, the Mayor Pravin Datke adjourned the House.

When the Mayor returned to the House shortly after the situation was no different. The Congress Corporators continued their uproar. Amid din, Mayor called the agenda of the meeting to be taken up. But the strong protest of Opposition failed to deter the Ruling Party from approving the hike in Property Tax on the basis of numbers.

Later, Thakre told media that the Opposition members had met the Mayor two days back and had demanded the issue of Property Tax should not be taken up in the General Body Meeting. In the all-party meeting a suggestion was put up to meet the Chief Minister and request him to spare the citizens from the burden. But the Ruling Party scorned the suggestion and went ahead in approving the steep hike in Property Tax, lamented Thakre.
