The Government Polytechnic Nagpur organizes awareness programme on organ donation

While addressing the audience, Joint Director Technical Education, Nagpur Region Shri Gulabrao Thakare said that ‘Do not take your organs to heaven, heaven knows we need them here”. He was speaking as Chief Guest  in a Programme titled, ‘Keep Giving Carry on Living,’ an awareness programme on Organ Donation, organised at Government Polytechnic Nagpur.

Large number of students of 12 branches, Officials, Faculty and Staff of Government Polytechnic, Nagpur, Officials and Staff from Regional office of Joint Director Technical Education, Nagpur region, Regional Board of Technical Education Nagpur, Government Institute of Hotel Management and catering Technology Nagpur attended the programme.

Director and Centre Head MOHAN Foundation Dr. Ravi Wankhede was the keynote speaker. He gave a motivational presentation on ‘Need of Organ Donation’ and various facets associated with it. He enlightened the audience about the condition of ‘Brain Death’. He emphasized the urgency of organ donation by citing statistical data, about organ donation in India.   Principal and Chairperson of the Programme Dr. C S Thorat stressed the need of such social contributions by Technical organizations.

The programme was conceived and coordinated by Officer In-charge CDC and Faculty Civil Engineering Dr Rajeshwari Wankhade. Certain highlights of the Programme were, theme based Rangolis, a play enacted by the students, wherein students in the role play of Muslims, Hindus and Christian (role play) telling the importance of organ donation. Many placards were also displayed by the students which conveyed the the value of ‘Organ Needy, Organ Donor and Facilitator Doctor’ and a variety of placards displaying slogans about Organ Donation, on the spot. During the programme, the organizers received commitments of many parents and staff to pledge their Organs were significant. An exhibition of posters, paintings made by the students of 3rd Year Civil Engineering on the theme ‘Organ Donation’ was displayed.

Head of the Civil Engineering Dr. S J Patil provided the necessary support for the programme. The programme was compered by Dr.Sadiya Raja, and Dr. Soniya Raut, Co-Coordinator of the programme Proffessor R M Walke proposed a vote of thanks.

Professor M K Panchavate, Professor D.A. Brahmankar, S R Bansod, Shaukat Ali, Prachi Irchalwar, P P Khobragade, Shambharkar, Nandanwar, Bhoyar worked for the overall success of the programme.
