‘No move to acquire people’s houses for Nagpur Metro Rail project’

Nagpur: The Nagpur Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (NMRCL) will provide employment opportunities to local youths in Khapri area, said joint deputy general manager of NMRCL Sumant Deulkar. He further clarified that at present there is no proposal for acquisition of land. Deulkar was speaking at a talk organised in the auditorium of Mihan on the subject of Metro Rail. The subject dealt with the utility and facilities that the Metro Rail will provide to Nagpurians.

Deulkar dealt in detail about the metro rail and its benefit for the citizens. The officers of the NMRCL assured the gathering that there is no proposal to acquire people’s houses and land for the metro rail project. Deulkar further informed that the design of the shed for metro rail is ready. The local residents will be given permission to erect stalls in order to generate employment.

The metro rail that will run from Automotive square to Mihan and from Prajapati Nagar to Lokmanya Nagar will be able to connect the entire city. The NMRCL will take the people of Nagpur in to confidence, said Deulkar, adding that the talk is part of that policy.

Last month, a similar programme was organised at Chichbhavan. The metro rail that will cover a distance of 38 kms and will have 36 stations. Several other programmes will be organised at colleges, in private companies and in government offices to make aware the people about the mega project.
