NMC, ICLEI South Asia and GIZ sign tripartite MoU on solid waste management, other projects

Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation, ICLEI South Asia and GIZ on Monday signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on solid waste management and other various projects. The MoU will facilitate technical cooperation between the signatories on solid waste management, sewage treatment plant and water treatment plant as well as solar energy field.

The ICLEI, South Asia has selected Nagpur and Rajkot out of 11 Indian cities under “Integrated Resource Management in Indian Cities’: The Urban Nexus. Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar on behalf of NMC, ICLEI South Asia’s Imani Kumar and Ruth Urlbake of ZIZ signed the tripartite Memorandum of Understanding.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Mayor Pravin Datke, Deputy Mayor Satish Holay, Standing Committee Chairman Sudhir Raut, GIZ Technical Project Director Ralf Tross, EU Welle’s Technical Expert Hubert Yayendus, Central Government’s Solid Waste Management Consultant Ragini Jain, Superintendent Engineer (Water Works) Dilip Jamgade, Medical Officer (sanitation) Dr Pradeep Dasarwar, and other officials.

The EU Welle’s Technical Expert Hubert Yayendus made a power presentation on Maximum Yield Technology (MYT). GIZ made power presentation on its technical services for management of solid waste in China and Thailand. The Municipal Commissioner Hardikar also made a presentation on various projects being undertaken by the civic body.
