Nagpur: For the construction of cement roads numerous trees have been felled. It was also said that new tree would be planted and for the same space would be left. But nothing of this sort has happened. The contractors have left no space to plant the tree. This has happened because the administration gave the contractors the ‘work completion” certificate and even before the work was completed and made the payment.
It may be mentioned that due lack of planning the cement roads are being constructed and widened at great speed under the guidance of Municipal administration. Though the administration and the contractors had agreed to keep space for planting trees it only remained on paper because the administration did not inspect the work from time to time. Now when the NGOs are trying to dig pits to plant tree they are facing problem. Due to the negligence of the NMC the contractors have left no place and has done complete concretisation.
It is a big question whether the NMC will take action against those guilty or just leave it?
