Nagpur: Praveen Raut, Chairman, NCIC (Nagpur City Improvement Committee) has demanded that a case of fraud must be registered against SNDL (Spanco Nagpur Discon Limited) for generating excess electricity bill for the users. He has also claimed that the employees of SNDL, which looks after the electricity supply in Nagpur, has been imposing surfeit of bills on the users and collecting it illegally. The Committee has, therefore, demanded a legal action against SNDL and employees overcharging the customers.

In a recent case, an old woman was sent a bill of 8 thousand rupees which has landed her in a financial dilemma. Similarly, the consumers who received an average bill of 3 thousand are now being charged by as high as 9 thousand rupees.

“The SNDL Company has not appointed a team for Meter Testing. As a result of the same, the users are facing issues and being overcharged”, said Praveen Raut. “The Satyashodhan Committee which has been established by state government to conduct a probe into the matter has also declared the same” he added. The SNDL has been neglecting the extra charge being imposed and not taking the matter seriously.

Another user, Ishwar Jhilpe, was recently charged 12,000 as monthly electricity bill. However, after complaint it was changed to 2,100 later. Similarly, cases of receiving electricity bills of as high as 92,000 rupees ahs also been reported.
