Narendra Modi inaugurates thermal power project in Mouda, Nagpur; Urges nation to conserve energy

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, inaugurated a super thermal power project in Mouda, Nagpur.

“If we are successful in creating better infrastructure the scope for development expands automatically,” he said addressing the audience at the event.

“For any nation to develop, priority has to be given to infrastructure. If we have to bring change in the quality of life in rural India, electricity is the most important factor,” he stated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised the nation that his government is taking all efforts to ensure that in coming years the villages and poor of India have access to 24 hours electricity.

PM dedicating MOUDA to the NationTalking on farmers suicide, he said, “There can be nothing sadder than the fact that farmers have to commit suicide. I have come to Vidarbha today. I can never forget the suicides by our farmers,” adding, “Providing electricity to farmers is the first step towards providing a good quality of life to them. The effort is to ensure that in coming years the villages and poor of India have access to 24 hours electricity. Not only darkness is removed with the supply of electricity but employment is also generated.

The PM further maintained that the farmers could gain most from Jan Dhan Yojana.

On the issue of corruption, he said, “Corruption has ruined the nation. But if the entire nation join their hands together, corrupt people won’t be able to do anything.”

Governor of Maharashtra , Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shipping, Rural Development , Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water & Sanitation   &  Shri Piyush Goyal , Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy alongwith other leaders and dignitaries from the State of Maharashtra,  Shri  D. Chowdhary, Addl Secy. Power, Govt. of india and Dr, Arup Roy Choudhury were also present

Power from Mouda stage- I is supplied to the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Jammu Kashmir and UTs  Daman Diu & Dadar Nagar Haveli. Situated in Nagpur Distt. of Maharashtra, the project shall have ultimate capacity of 2320 MW.  1320 MW ( 2X660MW) stage II of the project with target commissioning in the early 13th plan.

The company has been conferred with coveted “Maharatna” status by the government for its outstanding achievements over the years. NTPC has a vision to be the world’s largest and best power producer, powering India’s growth.​

After addressing a huge public in Mouda he left to Nagpur for bhoomi poojan of the Nagpur Metro.
