Nagpur: Many of the students who have appeared for B.Sc. Final Semester Exams during Summer 2016 are caught on cross roads, thanks to the apathy of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU). In yet another whimsical gesture by the authorities at RTMNU, the results of many of the students for B.Sc. final semester exams (summer 2016) have still not been declared while the admission to M.Sc. has been closed in many colleges affiliated to NU. The future of all these students is in dark now as all of them are being played down at the hands of the examining authorities at the university.
Whims of RTMNU
A student on condition of anonymity informed, “Our exams got finished on 21st June 2016. Almost 2 months have passed and the university doesn’t have a mark sheet for us, not even on the website. We even don’t know our marks. We are just the poor insect caught in the web of RTMNU with our future dangling. This is the case of the students of Institute of Science (CBZ, CBEnv group) and there are many other students like us in the Nagpur University. Many of the colleges of the Nagpur University have closed their admissions for the M.Sc. programme. And we are helpless.”
No hope in sight
He added, “As 3 days had passed after the declaration of results, we all students with the common problems went to Examination Controller Mr. Khati on 8th August. He assured us to extend the admission dates of the university and colleges till the results are declared. The extended dates came near and still there were no hopes for the result declaration.”
VC’s assurance falls flat!
Some of the students even tried to approach Vice Chancellor regarding their problem but they had to deal with a bad experience there. Narrating his ordeal on the students informed, “We went to the Vice- Chancellor on 11th August but we were detained on the gates for nearly half an hour. Then after repeated requests we were allowed to meet him. He assured us to declare our results in coming 2-3 days. One of our batch mates had such a big issue that he sat for the fast unto death for the sake of his future. This issue was covered by many local newspapers and a news channel. We sat at home then, waiting for our final mark sheets of the bachelor’s degree programme. Still nothing has happened till now. Almost all the colleges of the RTMNU have closed their dates for M.Sc. admissions and the university campus can close it any time now.”
Unexpected backlog!
Says an apparently worried student, “What should I do if the university doesn’t comes up with my results and all the admission dates have gone. Should I sit at home only due to some stupid kind of inefficiency which we don’t know. This is case of nearly 50-60 students, most of them who didn’t had a backlog in their lives but still would be doomed due to the rotten administration. Is this the mistake of the students??? So why are they then bearing the sour fruits of the deed of the University.”

RTMNU has put the students to similar kind of trouble in the past and the agony continues. It is high time that the accountability should be fixed strictly and the erroneous authorities should be dealt with iron hands. When we deal with issues which are directly connected to the future of the students, it has been to taken very seriously by any yardstick. No authority of university, whatever the power due on him, he or she should not be treated above the system. The responsible people should face the action then and there. To start with, this case should be set as classic example for reference.
