Nagpur-Mumbai 6-lane Express H-way gets govt. nod

Nagpur: After a long time of wait over the project, the state government has given its nod to go for construction of Nagpur-Mumbai 6-lane Express Highway, which is now awaiting a formal order to be issued by the state government in this regard. Once the project comes into existence, it will reduce the time of travel of about 800 km distance between two cities, Nagpur-Mumbai and vice versa, which now will be covered in 8 to 10 hours. Also, the distance between Nagpur and Mumbai will be reduced by 50 kms.

However, the formal orders in this regard are yet to be issued by the state government and the PWD will then come into action to construct the express highway. Earlier the state government had mulled over the 4-lane express highway from Nagpur and Aurangabad to Mumbai on NH-6, now the 6-lane highway would prove a boon for travel by road to these major cities of Maharashtra.
Other advantages: It will connect industrial places at Butibori, Wardha, Amravati, Jalna, Chikalthana, Shendra, Walunj and Sinnar. It will connect tourist places like Sewagram, Karanja (Lad), Lonar, Sindkhedraja, Erul and Shirdi. It will boost employment through development of industries in backward regions. The project will also avenues of employment.
