Nagpur Crime Branch raids 8 places

A squad of Economic Offenses Wing of Nagpur Crime Branch raided eight places including the main office of Nagpur Timber Merchant’s Association. One of the Assistant Police Inspector In-Charge of Crime Branch who was leading the squad Pradeep Lande who had raided main office of Nagpur Timber Merchant’s Association and seized important document from the office. An investigation is carried out on the case of cheating and fraud committed by the Office Bearers of the Association. A simultaneous raid of all allied offices of the Nagpur Timber Merchant’s Association was carried out right from the morning hours.

According to sources, a case of fraud committed by the office-bearers of Nagpur Timber Merchant’s Association is lodged in Lakadganj  Police Station under Crime No. 104/2011 & 8/2012. It is alleged that the office-bearers of Nagpur Timber Merchant’s Association had purchased land on their own names with the money of the Association. When some of the members found out this fraud committed by the office-bearers through some of the other office-bearers, they lodged a complaint with the Lakadganj Police Station.

Since the amount of the fraud committed amounts to lakhs and crores, the case has been handed over to the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the Nagpur Crime Branch. When some of the office-bearers found that a case has been registered against them, they have taken refuge from the High Court. The High Court had given a temporary stay in the matter. However, on the lapse of the stay period, various squads of Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the Nagpur Crime Branch raided all the allied organizations of the Nagpur Timber Merchant’s Association and seized the documents. Till the time of filling the story, the Squads of EOW was still perusing the documents.

Allegation of submitting bogus bills
It has come to fore that the office-bearers of Nagpur Timber Merchant’s Association had submitted bogus bills when they purchased lands. The case has been handed over to the Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of the Nagpur Crime Branch and Assistant Police Inspector Pradeep Lande is the Investigating Officer.
