Nagpur:
MNS Nagpur unit head Manisha Papdkar, cannot believe what has happened, she says.

Despite its tainted involvement in a road scam, RPS Infra has landed with a contract worth Rs 34 crore in Nagpur.

She has complained to the civic body, “When I got to know that our civic body has issued work order to the company RPS infra I was shocked. How can they give contract to a company which was blacklisted by other civic body.”

“I had written to civic body chief in July but haven’t got any reply,” Manisha said.

Blacklisting by BMC holds little value for RPS Infra as the company reserved a contract worth crores despite involvement in a road scam.

“No action was taken against RPS infra in Mumbai even after the company got blacklisted by BMC. It is because of their connection with BJP. In CM’s hometown Nagpur, same black listed company got road contracts worth Rs 34 crores. Why there is no action against this company?” said Nawab Malik, NCP spokesperson.

BJP CONTRADICTS OWN CLAIMS
With this accusation, BJP has contradicted its allegations against Shiv Sena for indulging in road scam and domination of BMC by mafia. And a war of words has broken out between allies BJP – Shiv Sena just as elections to NMC in Nagpur and BMC in Mumbai are round the corner. Observors says this could be a way of muscle flexing before the hard bargaining for seat allotment/ sharing begins in Mumbai.

The Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray also jumped into the fray by taking a dig at alliance partner in the BMC. BJP currently who has been leveling allegations of mafia raj against the Shiv Sena. In a tweet put out on Friday morning Thackeray said, “Mumbai mein mafia, Nagpur mein Maaf-kiya.. Contractors blacklisted by BMC get road contracts in Nagpur.”

It may be recollected that the BMC in April this year lodged FIRs against contractors involved in the Rs. 352 crore road scam namely M/S Relcon, M/S R.K. Madhani, M/S Mahavir road infrastructure Pvt. Ltd, M/S J. Kumar, M/S RPS and M/S K.R construction. Recently it came to light that these contractors have bagged contracts awarded by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation which is ruled by the BJP.
