Nagpur: A young girl from Mumbai turned out to be a big time con on , after she was exposed during her stay at Centre Point Hotel in Ramdaspeth here. Sitabuldi police have arrested Puja Thakkar alias Puja Khan, resident of BAUGS Society in Mumbai, from the hotel here on Friday. She had checked into Centre Point hotel on September 23, faking herself as a member of International Council of Jury. She had not paid any bills during her more than a month long stay. When asked about the bill she would use the garb of being jury member and often threatened the hotel staff. She had even submitted her fake identity card at the reception.
When the bills kept piling, hotel’s manager Nidhi Gopalkrisna Nair asked for the deposit which Puja outrightly refused. Smelling the rat, Nair then reported the matter to Sitabuldi police station.
Later when the cops inquired about her, it turned out that Puja Thakkar is also facing similar fraud charges at Kamethi police station in Masuri district in Uttarakhand and also at Rindosi police station in Mumbai. She had been introducing her as a CBI officer in these areas, until her truth came to light.
Sitabuldi police have arrested Puja under sections 468, 471. Cops are interrogating her to find out more threads to the case.
