: As MLC election from local self-governing body is to be held in coming December month, the Congress party is keen on showing its enthusiasm with its candidate at hand while the BJP is still maintaining its mystery and has not opened its card.

As per reports, almost all senior Congress leaders of the district have opposed repetition of the candidature of sitting MLC Rajendra Mulak. They have alleged that Mulak had hurt the Congress leaders during the regime of former Congress Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, and opponents were supplied demanded money from MLC-fund. So, they are now demanding that any candidate be fielded this time from Congress other than Rajendra Mulak.

When such development surfaced, the name of City Congress president Vikas Thakre was tabled, but he did not come forward to obtain 334 votes at the cost of heavy expenses on election. Another name that tabled was that of Satish Chaturvedi, but he too is not showing serious interest in the field. Off the record, Satish Chaturvedi seems to be fear-gripped as his political graph is on the decline.

Meanwhile, according to sources, Mulak, on the basis of his relations and contacts, has already tried to seek BJP ticket to contest MLC election this time. But, he has been denied BJP candidature for the fear of resentment within party.

However, Mulak has once again started seeking candidature of Congress, though by alluring the voters by the ways best known to him. The fact is that Mulak is the competent candidate with Congress in the present scenario, because others will not be able to afford the heavy cost of MLC election. It may be mentioned that there are certain members in Congress whose nature of leg-pulling is not changed even after biting dust in elections, as if they are born to harm others.

Now, the situation is clear as to whosoever is able to bear heavy expenditure will win the race for MLC.
BJP may field Pravin Datke.

In the BJP camp, Mayor Pravin Datke is the most popular candidate from local body though he is disliked by Adhyapak-Pradhyapak Mandali. BJP leader and Guardian Minister was helped by Pravin Datke during his mayorship. Guardian Minister has thus assured Pravin of all help in the race for MLC. Pravin may be required to win the support of Independent voters. Guardian Minister is not happy with Ramesh Mankar, and Girish Vyas is out of race.
