Mugging cases on the rise again: two mugged in separate cases

The number of cases of looting and mugging seems to be on the rise. Fear of law seems to have faded over a period of time. This increase in mugging is taking place in-spite of the increased rounds and patrols of Charlie Squads and patrolling vehicles. In two unrelated cases, two persons were mugged at knife-point.

Mugging in Hudkeshwar area
In the first incident which occurred in Hudkeshwar area, the victim identified as Meenakshi Gunwant Maundekar aged 35 years and a resident of House near Pintu Saoji Bhojnalaya, Jaiswadi, Nagpur, Telephone Exchange Square was returning home after completing her duty at Saroday Engineering College on her TVS Scooty bearing RTO No MH-31/ AQ-9972. Hit opposite to Samrat Beer Bar, Near Dighori, Umred Road, two identified youth in the age-group of 25-30 years accosted her and snatched her Mobile and Cash collectively worth Rs 46,500 at knife point.

The victim lodged a complaint with the Hudkeshwar Police Station. On the basis of the complaint, Assistant Police Inspector Dhadge of Hudkeshwar Police Station registered a case under sections 341, 392 and 34 of Indian Penal Code against unidentified accused. The Hudkeshwar police is investigating further.

Mugging in Wadi area
In the second case, the victim identified as Gulshan Mohanlal Bashan aged 22 years and a resident of Siddhi Colonly, Opposite Post Office, Nagpur was on Amravati Road on his Hero Stunner Motorcycle. Hit opposite to Wahid Hardware on Amravati Road under the jurisdiction of Wadi Police Station, some four unidentified persons in the age group of 22-30 years accosted him and snatched Rs 40,000 (Rupees Forty Thousand) in cash and his Mobile phone worth Rs 8000/- collectively Rs 48,000/- (Rupees Forty Eight Thousand)from his person.

The victim immediately rushed to Wadi Police Station and lodged a complaint. On the basis of his complaint Police Sub Inspector Paddhan registered a case under sections 392 and 34 of Indian Penal Code and are investigating further.
