MIDC cops nab 3 tricksters trying to sell fake gold ornaments

MIDC Police busted 3 tricksters

MIDC police, in a swift action, nabbed three persons including a woman who were trying to sell fake gold ornaments to a trader. The arrested accused had tried to fool the trader by saying that they stumbled upon the “gold booty” whi carrying out digging work. Cops have seized the fake gold ornaments.

The complainant trader Ranjit Sureshchandra Jain (34), resident of Ramainagar, Jaitala, who runs a grocery shop Amar Traders at Shipriya Apartment in Jaitala, on August 26 tipped off the MIDC police that three suspicious persons have come to his shop and are trying to sell gold ornaments at very cheap price. The three accused Laxman Mohan Mali (24), Kisan Laxman Mali (28) and Deepa Dilip Rathod (35), all natives of District Jhalod, Rajasthan told Ranjit that they have found gold ornaments while carrying out digging work. They wanted to sell the gold stuff at a cheaper price of Rs 1 lakh only.

Acting on the tip-off, the MIDC police, showing alertness and alacrity, told Ranjit to pretend buying of the gold stuff and ask the three accused to come the next day i.e. August 27. In the meantime, a team of police laid a trap near the kirana shop and waited for the accused to come there. As soon as the trickster trio arrived at the shop, the cops detained them along with the gold ornaments. Upon checking, the entire gold ornaments, weighing around two and a half kg, were found to be fake except two pieces.

The three accused were booked under Sections 420, 34 of the IPC and placed under arrest.

The team of MIDC police that carried out the task comprised of Senior PI Nalavade, API Shiurkar, API Kale, WPSI Ramteke, constable Arvind Mohod, Naik Police Constables Subhash, Vinod Kamble, and Vicky.
