MCOCA slapped on gangster Raju Bhadre, 8 other goons in Ajay Raut kidnapping case

Raju Bhadre was the mastermind in the sensational Ajay Raut kidnapping case while eight other accomplices assisted him and played role in recovering a ransom of Rs 1.75 crore.

Nagpur: Cracking the whip, police have slapped the stringent MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act) on dreaded gangster Raju Bhadre and eight others who were involved in kidnapping of Ajay Shyamrao Raut and recovering a ransom of Rs 1.75 crore from him. The kidnapping of Ajay Raut had taken place on December 11, 2015, at Cosmos Square coming under Pratapnagar Police Station jurisdiction.

Raju Bhadre and eight others namely Nitin Sunil Waghmare (27) of Kamptee Road, Ashish Virendra Naidu (28) of Bailey Shop, Panchpaoli, Kartik Shivramkrishnan Tewar (27) of Jaripatka, Bharat alias Rahul Sushil Dubey (23) of Motibagh, Divakar Baban Kotulwar (31) of Manishnagar, Ashish Baban Kotulwar (28) of Manishnagar, Khushal alias Jallad alias Pahalwan Thool (28) of Gaddugodam and Nitin Mohan Patil of Dattawadi were booked under Sections 143, 147, 149, 341, 342, 364(A), 365, 384, 385, 386, 504, 506(B) of IPC read with Sub-Section 3 of MCOCA, 1999 in the offence 468/15. Out of these nine accused, first five have been arrested and the remaining four Divakar, Ashish, Khushal and Nitin are absconding and are being hunted.

The slapping of MCOCA on Raju Bhadre and eight others was announced by Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ranjan Sharma while addressing a press conference here on Friday.

During the detailed investigation carried out in the Ajay Raut kidnapping case, it has come to fore that Raju Bhadre was the mastermind in the entire case. Apart from Raju Bhadre, the other three accused Diwakar Baban Kotulwar, Ashish Baban Kotulwar and Kushal alias Jallad alias Pahelwan Thool knew about the kidnapping, while the others had no knowledge about the cause of kidnapping etc.

While addressing the press meet, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ranjan Sharma said that the amount of Rs one crore which was supposedly paid by Raju Bhadre in a black bag was never found. No one had verified or checked the money in the bag. The entire dealing was done in the dark.

The cops are still investigating as to the route or the person through whom Raju Bhadre who is lodged in the Central Jail had delivered the one crore rupees.

According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ranjan Sharma, Raju Bhadre had done the entire drama of providing Rs one crore on short notice to make it appear that he had no role in the kidnapping.

The Crime Branch officials are going to get a warrant and pick Raju Bhadre from Nagpur Central Prison and ascertain the entire modus-operandi.

The other criminals are still absconding including Diwakar Baban Kotulwar, Ashish Baban Kotulwar and Kushal alias Jallad alias Pahelwan Thool, Nitin Mohan Patil.

The cops while trying to enforce the No Tolerance to crime proposed by the Chief Minister and the Commissioner of Police and have slapped MCOCA on all the accused involved in the case.

The two cars which were used in the kidnapping case have been since seized.
