Mayor inaugurates Workshop Life Saving Technique

Nagpur: The Mayor Nanda Jichkar on Tuesday inaugurated a Workshop Life Saving Technique at Suresh Bhat Sabhagruha, Reshimbag. A team of specialist doctors including Dr Meenakshi Girish, Dr Pravin Dahake and Dr Rajkumar Kiratkar dedicated themselves for the noble cause.

Dr Meenakshi Girish, Chief Coordinator of Basic Life Support (BLS), an NGO, explained the basic of the technique with the help of video presentation and also with the help of mannequins. Director of HERD Foundation and LSTS Dr Suchika Deshmukh underlined the importance of the technique in very simple words to the audience. Both the NGOs provided team of specialists and volunteers to make the training a successful event.

President of Central Indian Academy of Pediatrics(C-IAP) Dr Santosh Soanelaborated the need of the training and praised all the students for their enthusiastic participation in BLS. He urged to continue to practice the technique and save atleast one life in lifetime.

In her inaugural address, Mayor Jichkar was all full of praise for the participating students and the doctors who coordinated the training. She mentioned that hosting the national level PEDICON conference is a matter of pride for the city. She aptly termed the BLS training endeavour as a Social Learning module with immense importance and opportunity to save a life. She asked everyone to recite the oath and try life time to be worthy of it.

Jichkar further informed the gathering about the forthcoming Swachhata Survey to be done by the Central Government, the importance of it and the need of the awareness of the same. She insisted to download the Swachhata App from the googleplaystore for free and to start actively using it as Clean and Healthy Nagpur is a collective responsibility of all. To everybody’s surprise, she herself tried the BLS technique on the stage.

The response to the workshop was overwhelming, more than 3,000 participants were imparted the training. More than 300 deaf and dumb students with their special language instructor also benefitted.

The BLS training workshop was managed by Chief Coordinator Dr Meenakshi Girish with Dr Pravin Dahake and Dr Rajkumar Kiratkar. The programme was prominently attended by Dr Vinky Rughvani, Member: Medical Council of Maharashtra, Dr R.G. Patil, Dr Sanjay Marathe, Dr Girish Charde and Dr Kritish Balpande. The event was ably anchored by Dr Pravin Dahake. Chief Organising President Dr Vasant Khalatkar proposed vote of thanks.
