Mayor cracks the whip on contractor for poor work on NMC project, orders end of contract

Nagpur News: Taking a serious note of dismal work being carried out by Shayona Corporation, the firm given contract to construct high-end Poet Suresh Bhat Memorial Hall, the Mayor Pravin Datke cracked the whip and ordered cancellation of the contract if the firm failed to complete the project within the timeframe. “If the contractor (Shayona Corporation) is found deliberately delaying the project and not working according to norms, the contract should be cancelled. The Chairmen of Standing Committee and Estate Committee should convene a meeting and initiate steps for action” directed the Mayor while reviewing the progress of various projects being implemented under JNNURM Scheme in Nagpur City.

The projects the Mayor Datke reviewed included construction of Poet Suresh Bhat Memorial Hall, Nag Nadi Bridge in Old Shukrawari, new Administrative Building work, cement roads being constructed in different areas,  Danaganj Shopping Mall, Indoor Stadium in Vivekanand Nagar, LED-based streetlights, Solar Water Heater project, Ram Jhula, Pench Project, London Street, 24×7 Water Supply Scheme, and other projects. The Mayor found some projects nearing completion and some delayed due to various reasons.

Other dignitaries who attended the review meeting include Deputy Mayor Munna Pokulwar, Chairman of Standing Committee Narendra Borkar, Municipal Commissioner Shyam Wardhane, Chairman of Estate Electricity and Projects Committee Sandeep Joshi, Chairman of Medical Services and Health Committee Ramesh Singare, Senior Corporator Sunil Agrawal, Superintending Engineer Prakash Urade, City Engineer Sanjay Gaekwad, Executive Engineers Sanjay Jaiswal, Azizur Rehman, Satish Neral, Mahesh Gupta, Shyam Chavan, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Madan Gadge and other concerned officials.
