Man with country-made pistol, six bullets nabbed in Gittikhadan

Acting on a secret information, Gittikhadan police on Monday arrested a man and seized a country-made revolver from his possession. The cops also recovered six live cartridges from the arrested accused.

Gittikhadan police, around 1.25 pm On Monday, received a tip-off that a man was in possession of a country-made pistol and was roaming in public place near Icon Heights building on Mankapur Ring Road to Palotti Nagar Square. Acting swiftly, a team of policemen, led by PI R D Nikam, zeroed in on the suspect man who has been identified as Khan Abdul Salim alias Satim Taj Mohammed Khan (45), resident of Godavari Nagar Slums, behind Rose Colony, Mankapur. Upon frisking, a six-chambered country-made revolver and six live cartridges collectively worth Rs 13000 were seized from possession of the accused.


Gittikhadan police registered a case against the accused Khan Abdul Salim alias Satim Taj Mohammed Khan under Section 3+25 of Arms Act read with Sub-Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act and placed him under arrest.

The other members of police team include API S V Darekar, NPCs Vinod Dhimole, Sheikh Imran, constables Ajay Shukla and Ashish. The task was carried out under the guidance of Zone 2 DCP Rakesh Kalasagar and Sadar ACP Somnath Waghchaure.
