Man poisons wife to death in Lakadganj, arrested

: Lakadganj police have arrested a man on the charges of poisoning his wife to death. The accused reportedly offered his wife “Sevpuri” (a spicy snack) laced with some poisonous stuff that led to her death. The man was arrested on the basis of a revelation made by his 13-year old daughter.

The accused has been identified as Radheshyam Tiwari (40), resident of Garoba Maidan, Chhaprunagar.

According to police, on January 1, 2017, the health of Rekha Tiwari (40), wife of Radheshyam, deteriorated after she consumed “Sevpuri.” She was rushed to Mayo Hospital. However, Rekha died the next day during the course of treatment. At that time, Lakadganj police had registered a case of accidental death and launched a thorough investigation.

During the course of investigation, it came to the fore that the accused had laced the snack with some arsenic substance and offered it to Rekha. The moment Rekha consumed the toxic ‘Sevpuri,” her health started deteriorating. She was admitted to Mayo Hospital where she died the next day. During the probe, cops talked to Muskan, the 13-year old daughter of deceased to get a clue. The girl revealed that her father poisoned her mother that led to her death. On the basis of the revelation, Lakadganj police placed the accused Radheshyam Tiwari under arrest on the charges of murdering his wife.
