Tension ran high in Sadar area as a middle-aged man was brutally murdered in the early morning of Monday (January 23). The murder was the fallout of an old dispute the deceased was having with the 26-year old accused.

According to police, the accused Dinesh Digambar Bhimte (26), resident of Motibagh Railway Crossing, had stolen a pressure gauge meter of welding cylinder belonging to the deceased Munna Asanna Kaprati (46), resident of Mecosabagh. Since then, the accused Dinesh and the deceased Munna were at loggerheads with each other and indulged in exchange of hot words frequently.

However, the trivial issue took a bloody turn on Monday (January 23). Around 7.30 in the morning, Munna was sitting at Apsara Tea Stall, opposite PWD Office Gate in Sadar area. Suddenly, the accused Dinesh Bhimte appeared on the spot and attacked Munna with a sharp-edged weapon. He inflicted fatal injuries on Munna’s chest and hands. The profusely bleeding Munna collapsed and died on the spot. After eliminating Munna, the accused Dinesh fled the spot. The daylight murder sparked tension in the area and a huge mob of nearby people gathered at the crime scene. Sadar cops too were informed and a team reached there within no time. Body of Munna was sent to the government hospital for post-mortem.

Sadar PSI V M Matre, based on a complaint of Krunal Deepak Makalwar (25), Mohan Nagar, booked the accused Dinesh Bhimte under Section 302 of the IPC read with Sub-Section 135 of Mumbai Police Act. The accused has reportedly been arrested.
