Man booked for demanding Rs 5,000 extortion money

ExtortionNagpur: Nandanvan police booked a man for allegedly demanding extortion money from a middle-aged man. The incident took place on October 21 at around 1 pm.

According to reports, Sheikh Rashid Sheikh Nizam (32), a resident of Dighori, rag dealer and has a shop at Kharbi Square, near Laxmi Bhojnalaya. On October 21, Rashid was present in his shop when the accused Kareem Khan Shamat Khan barged into the shop and demanded extortion money of Rs 5,000 from him. He threatened Rashid of dire consequences if he failed to give him monthly Rs 5,000. On the basis of the complaint lodged by Rashid, Nandanvan police have registered an offence under Section 387 of the IPC against the accused.
