Nagpur: The closing ceremony and prize distribution programme of Inter Area (Zonal) Mines Rescue competition 2017 of Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) was concluded at R.R.R.T., Tadali on 14th November 2017.

The award ceremony presided over by Chairman cum Managing Director of WCL and Director(P/IR) of Coal India Limited Rajiv R. Mishra. On this occasion Deputy General Director of Mines Safety, V. Laxminarayana was the Chief Guest. Director Technical (Operation) B.K. Mishra, Director Technical (Project & Planning) T. N. Jha, Director of Mine Safety, Nagpur (Region – I), D. K. Sahoo, Members of WCL Steering Committee Ramesh Ballewar, N.C. Nune and Area General Managers were prominently present.

While addressing, Mishra said that for safety, mine rescue and rescue training, funds are never a barrier for us. He also appreciated the dedicated services provided by rescue personnel and appealed to continue this zeal. He assured that WCL management is always with them and WCL is to achieve zero accident. Chief Guest V. Laxminarayana WCL praised the work done by WCL rescue teams and advised them to always work with dedication.

In this competition, Ballarpur – Majiri Area team stood first, Nagpur Area second and Chandrapur Area third.  Maitreya Mohan Sahoo was declared as “Best Captain”. The competition was performed among nine inter area teams of WCL.

The programme was mainly attended by the senior officers of DGMS, HoDs of WCL. Welcome address was given by Area General Manager, Wani Area R.K. Mishra. General Manager (Rescue) R. G. Swarnakar presented safety report of WCL.
