Majhi Metro project on “right track” as various works go on in full swing

: The ambitious Nagpur Metro Rail project seems to be running on ‘right track’ as various works such as at grade section of the project are going on in full swing. The sub-grade work was completed long back subsequently the ballast was laid on this portion. Further, the work of laying PSC sleepers was carried out. Now the track laying work has commenced at MIHAN Depot.

Two types of rails are being used for Nagpur Metro Rail project, as the rake will ply on main line. The authorities have adopted 60 kg head hardened rails to minimize wear and tear and normal rails on depot line. 60 kg head hardened rails are being used on main line with the ballast cushion of 300 mm and PSC sleeper spacing of 600 mm.

60 kg normal rails being used on depot lines with the ballast cushion of 250mm and PSC sleeper spacing of 650 mm. There are two lines i.e. Depot entry and depot exit lines connect the main line from Mihan Depot to Khapri main line will be completed by April 2017.
