Nagpur:
In a bid to ensure punctual grant of scholarships to students, Maharashtra government’s newly launched portal MahaDBT (Maharashtra Direct Benifit) will prove to be a boon. It will make certain that benefits of all government schemes are transferred directly into bank accounts of beneficiaries in the state. The website has been launched under state government’s ‘Aple Sarkar’ venture.

MahaDBT portal has been designed on the lines of the central government’s direct transfer benefit scheme. Aadhaar will become mandatory to claim benefits through the portal. It will allow the user students to access their accounts from anywhere. It will not only let them apply and register for introduced policies but also to avail updated information about them.

With this, Maharashtra has become the first state to launch this system to give direct benefits with ‘Aadhaar’ authentication. The website will increase transparency and provide detailed information on the movement of files within the departments. The portal was launched on 3rd August and since then various worshops are also being organized to train the government employees about its usage. Students will now be able to attain benefits of more than 40 policies being run by various departments under Maharashtra Information Technology Department. Registration process has already been started by schools and colleges under the scheme.

MahaDBT is an Aadhaar-authenticated electronic mechanism to give benefits to lakhs of beneficiaries under various schemes across all departments.
