Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s Local Body Tax department conducted a search and seizure action at M/s Jayani Surgicals and M/s Balaji Sales, situated at Nilayam Apartment, Hingna Road T-point, owned by MS Moroney and DP Pandhre.
The dealer is distributor of contact lenses and surgical goods. He had imported purchases worth Rs 7.22 crore and Rs 4.62 crore in 2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively for M/s Jayani Surgicals and Rs 2.90 crore and Rs 1.30 crore in 2013-14 and 2014-15 respectively for Shri Balaji Sales, Wadi.
As estimated, the dealer was liable to pay LBT of Rs 23 lakh approximately for the goods imported by M/s Jayani Surgicals, whereas the dealer had paid only Rs 1.41 lakh till date for the imports of April, 2013 and May 2013. The department seized purchase invoices and sale-purchase data from the dealer’s establishment. Department will verify the documents and data seized for fixing the actual LBT liability on the dealer.
