Lakadganj cops crack Rs 17 lakh burglary, arrest 4 men

Lakadganj police have cracked a burglary case and arrested four accused after painstaking investigation. A juvenile delinquent has also been detained for his role in the theft. Cops have recovered a booty worth Rs 17 lakh including melted gold ornaments worth over Rs 16 lakh, Rs 26,000 cash, a Pulsar bike worth Rs 50,000, a Suzuki Access moped the burglars purchased out of sold gold money.

According to details, the accused miscreants had struck at the house of Madhu Bharat Devadiya (66), resident of Maskasath, Itwari when she had gone to Pune at her daughter Sweety Shrikant Batra’s house for a programme. Madhu’s neighbour, who is her son-in-law, noticed the theft when he found lock of the house broken. At that that time the son-in-law had reported theft of Rs 5000 cash kept in the locker of an almirah but had told cops that the full details of stolen booty would be informed once Madhu returns to Nagpur. When Madhu returned home, she revealed that 1108 grams of gold ornaments and 100 gram silver ‘payal’ collectively worth Rs 15 lakh were stolen. After registering a theft case under Sections 454, 457, 380 of the IPC and launched a probe into the case.

After the painstaking investigation and with the help of informants, cops succeeded in nabbing the accused. They have been identified as Rohit Baliram Rokde (25) of Lalganj, Sukhram Durgaprasad Bansod (52) of Lendi Talao, Pachpaoli, Nikunj Rajesh Shangarwar (19) of Lalganj, Babalesh alias Bablu Sanjay Marchettiwar (23) of Lalganj. A juvenile delinquent accused Gaurav Suryakant Chaudhary (17) has also been detained for role in the burglary. After stealing the booty, the accused melted the gold ornaments and sold it to a jeweller.

The arrest of accused led the cops to recover the stolen booty worth Rs 17 lakh including melted gold ornaments worth over Rs 16 lakh, Rs 26,000 cash, a Pulsar bike worth Rs 50,000, a Suzuki Access moped the burglars purchased out of sold gold money.

The task was achieved by Senior PI S B Mane, API Sagar Nikam, ASI Rajendra Baghel, constables Manoj Neware, Shyam Angulwar, Naresh Badhel, Pravin ganar under the guidance of DCP Zone 3 Sambhaji Kadam and ACP Rina Janbandhu.
