Faridabad: Seven students of JNU and St Stephen’s College, including a girl, were brutally assaulted by a group of people in Faridabad on Monday, police said. The girl claims the group also tried to rape her during two-hour ordeal.
Moreover, when the victims approached Surajkund police station, cops misbehaved with them and refused to register an FIR.
The victims eventually went to Vasant Kunj north police station on August 15 where policemen registered a zero FIR under IPC section of 323, 341, 506, 354, 365, 511, 506 and 34 and transferred the case to Surajkund police station.
“I along with my friends had decided to explore the Bharadwaj Lake inside the Asola Wildlife Sanctuary. Around 8.30 pm, we decided to return. Three of us decided to go to the main road on my friend’s bike while the other four started walking. Our cab was parked outside,” the victim said in an FIR.
Suddenly, on the way, they were stopped by three persons, who asked what relation they have with the girl. They also asked the purpose of visiting that place, stated the complaint.
After replying to their questions, the students were suddenly attacked. “The group grew bigger in no time and their accomplices joined them. All of them started assaulting the student with sticks. The mob constantly hurled communal abuses at them.”
“At this moment, they asked for our identity cards and broke our phones. They tried to grope my friend. The wounds inflicted on her were primarily on her chest, right abdomen, right breast, right leg and a knee. The intension of the accused was to kill us and gang-rape her,” said another victim, adding, they were heard saying, “Let’s kill the guys and keep this girl with us.”
The victim, who belongs to minority community, said he was beaten up as he has a beard. “I was mercilessly beaten up on my back and my right leg and upper torso and all three of us were stomped on our chest,” he said, adding, “We barely managed to save our lives. Two locals – Ashish and Sumit – helped us. We immediately went to Surajkund PS and tried to file in a complaint, but were promptly refused to do so.”
The cops questioned about her torn dress and said “this is not a free-sex country”. The cops allegedly also forced them to write an apology letter.
When contacted, Astha Modi, DCP of NIT said: “We have received zero FIR from Vasant Kunj police station Thursday. We have asked the victims to record their statements with us. We will recreate the sequence of event to establish the incident.
