International Conference on Sustainable Development, inaugurated at FORE School

Nagpur: The three day FORE International Sustainable Development Conference 2018 with the theme ‘Business and Society in Emerging Markets’ was inaugurated in the auditorium of FORE School of Management New Delhi, today. FORE International Sustainable Development (FISD) conference, 2018 is the sixth conference of the annual international conference series hosted by FORE School of Management, New Delhi in association with the International Association for Business and Society (IABS) – a professional society devoted to research and teaching about the relationships between business, government and society.

Founded in 1990, IABS has over 300 members worldwide from over one hundred universities in more than twenty countries as well as members from various corporations and not-for-profit organizations. IABS Research Domain covers the various aspects of the interface between management and the social political dynamics of the surrounding society. It includes, among others, research on corporate social responsibility and performance, emerging social issues for business, business ethics, environmental affairs, and business and government relations.

According to Prof. Hitesh Arora, faculty at FORE and convener of the seminar, “This year conference focus is on Business and Society Relations in Emerging Economies with the aim to bring together scholars, policy actors and practitioners to shed light on the various and nuanced facets of these issues”.

Research papers on conceptual, empirical, applied contributions that could expand current understanding of CSR or Business Sustainability in general and help shape CSR theories, practices, polices and discourses in the context of emerging economies, were invited from academicians, research scholars, management students, CSR Researchers, consultants and CSR heads from across the globe.

“Some of the major topics of the conference include: What can emerging economies learn from CSR/business sustainability lessons in the West; Inclusive and Equitable Economic Growth; Green Marketing and Responsible Consumerism; Human Values, Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility; Role of public policy in CSR, Ethics and Sustainable Development. The Best Paper Award and the Best Case Study Award includes a cash prize of 500 USD along with certificates. All manuscripts will be subject to blind peer review. Reviewer comments will be shared with the authors. A panel of jury, consisting of renowned academicians and corporate experts will decide on the best paper and the best case study”, added Prof. Hitesh Arora.

“This year we received 72 submissions, of which 52 academic papers and case studies were selected to be presented during the conference. Papers were received from a number of International colleges which includes – Trinity College Dublin, Ireland; Deakin University, Australia; Eastern Institute of Technology, New Zealand; Appalachian State University & University of New Mexico, USA; Warsaw School of Economics, Warsaw, Poland and a host of Indian institutes – IIMs; IITs; NIITs; MDI Gurgaon and others. We are also happy to have received many case studies from Indian corporate such as SRF; Power Grid Corporation; Capgemini; Magic Bus India; Everest Foundation among others in the area of CSR and Sustainable Development”, said Prof. Shallini Taneja, faculty at FORE and convener of the seminar.
