Nagpur: The 1993 Mumbai serial blasts accused Yakub Memon, who is in confinement of Nagpur Central Prison, in case hanged to death, his body would be buried in the vicinity of the prison itself. According to sources, all legal formalities would be followed before hanging him, and thereafter his face would shown for the first time.
It is said that if Yakub Memon is hanged on July 30, his wife Rahin Memon and daughter Jubeda, cousin Usman Memon and certain family members may be allowed to have his last sight. Yakub’s one more mercy plea is lying with President of India as Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao has already rejected his plea .
Meanwhile all preparations have been made in the jail with installation of iron-fraught cocoon-type security cover and posting of armed guards inside and outside the prison including the passages.
Only a delay in the President’s decision can further postpone the hanging, which is otherwise scheduled for 7 am on Thursday morning at the Nagpur prison.
Suleiman Memon, the brother of Yakub Memon who has been sentenced to death for his role in the 1993 Mumbai blasts, on Wednesday said that he had full faith in the judiciary and the almighty.
It may be mentioned that Yakub Memon’s last plea before the 3-judge bench of Supreme Court was rejected on July 29, Wednesday.
After hanging Yakub Memon, a team of doctors will perform postmortem within jail premises, but before postmortem his family members will have his last sight.
It is also worth mentioning here that the citizens are divided over the issue of Yakub’s hanging. The senior officers of prison inspected the prison on Tuesday night.
