Yes, you’ve read that right. If you are a budding actor and aim to capture the screen, theatre stage with your talent, this is a golden chance for you in Nagpur. Graduates from NSD (National School of Drama) are coming down to Nagpur to hold an acting workshop from 28 May to 10 June – it being organised by Rashtrabhasha Parivaris in association with Meraki Theater, a city based theater appreciation group.This workshop aims to introduce the different aspects of theater to the city youth.
To be conducted by two NSD graduates, Ashok Kumar Dharamsot and Mangal Sanap – the workshop, starting from 28th of May, the workshop will extend till 8th of June. The workshop aims to provide the participants a comprehensive idea of the field of acting and theater. The workshop will be production oriented and the final production will be staged for the city audience on the final day.
The faculty has over ten years’ experience in the field of theater and have performed in several countries. Ashok, a 2013 NSD graduate has conducted workshops is 8 cities in the country and has performed 5 plays in the International Theater Festival of India. Ashok has also participated in the Asian Theater Festival in China. Mangal Sanap on the other hand has learned various acting techniques of India and abroad. She has worked with several acclaimed stage directors and her research project performance is selected for Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2017.
Rupesh Pawar, an organizer of the event informed that the workshop does not focus solely on acting but rather attempts to give an overall idea regarding other aspects like stage direction, casting, light direction etc. He further informed that this is the 4th year of the workshop and they have received an overwhelming response this time. He said that he is getting constant queries regarding the registration.
