Providential win for Harish Dikondwar gets elected as Chairperson of Nehru Nagar Zone
Nagpur: Nagpur Municipal Corporation has ten zones, out of which eight zones had 8 chairpersons elected unopposed. In the absence of political adjustments, polls were held in the remaining two zones on April 30, 2016. While Harshala Jaiswal of BSP won the NMC Ashi Nagar Zone Polls and got elected as Chairperson of Ashi Nagar Zone, it was a providential win for BJP supported Independent Corporator Harish Dikondwar got elected as Chairperson of Nehru Nagar Zone.
Senior Bahujan Samaj Party Corporator Harshala Sanjay Jaiswal got elected as Chairperson of Ashi Nagar Zone by winning 8 votes while her opponent BJP supported Independent Corporator Savita Sangole got 7 votes.
One of the voter (Corporator) in the BJP-Alliance was absent for the polls held today. On the other hand Harshala Sanjay Jaiswal got the support of Senior Corporator of Bahujan Republican Ekta Manch party Rahul Telang which changed the poll scenario. Harshala Sanjay Jaiswal’s husband Former Corporator Sanjay Jaiswal and Rahul Telang are said to be best friends for a long time.
In the Nehru Nagar polls, both the BJP-Alliance and Congress-Alliance had an equal number of 6 votes each. Shiv Sena had two votes. Irked with BJP, Shiv Sena chose to remain impartial. BJP supported Independent Corporator Harish Dikondwar was candidate of BJP-Alliance while Congress supported Corporator Malu Tanaji Wanwe was the candidate for Congress-Aliance. This is what caused the polls to take a Providential voting where Harish Dikondwar got elected as Chairperson of Nehru Nagar Zone.

- Varsha Thakre (Dharampeth Zone)
- Swati Akhatkar (Hanuman Nagar Zone)
- Sumitra Jadhav (Dhantoli Zone)
- Vidhya Kanhere (Gandhibagh Zone)
- Praveen Bhisikar (Satranjipura Zone)
- Kanta Rarokar (Lakhadganj Zone)
- Arun Dawre (Mangalwari Zone)
Of these 7 Chairman are from BJP party while one Chairman is from Congress party. From the ten zones, One Chairman is from BSP, One from Congress and the remaining Chairmen are from BJP-and Independent candidates supported by BJP.
