Goon threatens to kill NMC’s Asst Commissioner for anti-encroachment drive

Nagpur: A notorious goon has threatened to kill Assistant Commissioner of NMC’s Enforcement Department Ashok Patil if he goes ahead with anti-encroachment drive in front of Empress Mall.

The accused has been identified as Anil Baiju Gaur, a resident of Ganeshpeth. According to Patil, the goon has rented out 15 pushcarts near Empress Mall and was collecting Rs 15,000 rent from each vendor. As the pushcarts were creating hurdles in smooth flow of traffic and complaints of people in this connection, the Enforcement Department has intensified action against illegal vendors since a month. The pushcarts were seized and a hefty fine was slapped on the encrachers. Enraged by the NMC action, the goon Anil Gaur entered the chamber of Patil around 1.30 pm on Friday and threatened to kill him. He also refused to pay the fine, stated a press release.

Scared over the life threat, Patil immediately lodged a complaint at Sadar Police Station. Police registered a case under Sections 353, 294 and 506 of IPC and arrested the goon. The accused Anil Gaur is reportedly facing over 40 offences registered at various police stations. He was once externed from city limits, according to police record.
