Video: Goon slaps NIT Executive Engineer, employees hit streets in protest

Nagpur: Hundreds of employees of Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT) on Saturday hit the streets to protest against the incident in which the NIT’s Executive Engineer Pramod Prabhakar Dhankar was slapped and threatened by a goon and his accomplices while he was performing duty at Divisional Office, North Nagpur, Vaishali Nagar.

According to police sources, the 55-year old NIT Executive Engineer Dhankar, resident of Arihant Arcade, Hingna T-Point, went to the North Nagpur Divisional Office of NIT in Vaishali Nagar around 4.15 pm on Friday. As he reached the premises the accused goon Sunil Meshram and his 2-3 accomplices accosted him. The accused Meshram, in a threatening tone, asked Dhankar as to why he putting hurdles in business. However, even before Dhankar could react to the poser, the accused and his men slapped him 3-4 times on face and pushed him on the ground. But as other employees rushed towards Dhankar to save him from the onslaught, the accused fled the spot. The bewildered Executive Engineer approached Pachpaoli police and lodged a complaint in this connection. Cops have registered a case under Sections 353, 324, 34 of the IPC and started probe.


However, as the news of assault on the Executive Engineer reached the employees of NIT on Saturday, they came out on streets and marched towards office of Joint Commissioner of Police Shivaji Bodkhe and handed over him a memorandum demanding immediate arrest of the accused.
