Goon demands extortion money of Rs 10 lakh from businessman with life threat

Nagpur: The extortion money demand is emerging as the handy weapon for anti-social elements to earn easy money at any cost. Businessmen are turning out to be easy targets. In yet another such incident, a 36-year old businessman was demanded extortion money of Rs 10 lakh and also threatened of grave consequences if he failed to meet the demand.

The businessman Mukesh Jaidevpratap Shahu, resident of Plot No. 24, Sonbaji Nagar, Bhandara Road, Nagpur, had gone out for some trade work on Saturday. When Mukesh returned to his office, situated at Shop No. 8, Gayatri Apartment, Sonbaji Nagar, he found a man identified as Ajay Thakur (38) sitting in office. Ajay Thakur thundered and told Mukesh to hand over extortion money of Rs 10 lakh if he has to stay in the market. When Mukesh asked for the reason the accused just told him to pay the amount and warned Mukesh of severe consequences if he refused to meet the demand. However, Mukesh chose to ignore the demand and registered a case against Thakur at Kalamna Police Station.

PSI Raut, acting on the complaint, booked the accused extortionist Ajay Thakur under Sections 385, 506 of IPC and searching for him.
