We Nagpurians are very fortunate that when the mood to eat ‘Punjabi’ strikes we don’t have to travel to Amritsar, Ludhiana or Chandigarh for it! Not even to Delhi.

It would not be an empty boast to say that ‘apna’ Nagpur offers Punjabi dishes that can compare with the best anywhere. Whether in the rustic setting of a highway dhaba, or a fine dining place, we can enjoy Butter chicken, Paneer butter masala, Tandoori items and finger-licking good dals. And each restaurant will offer you its distinct signature taste, no less Punjabi than the other, but yet, unique!

S.P. Singh of Hotel Centre Point has been one of the veterans who first offered Punjabi food in a fine dining setting to Nagpur.

His son Saheb Singh continues that tradition in the newly renovated, fabulous setting of Hotel Airport Centre Point’s Golden Harvest restaurant. As the name suggests, it is all golden, white and green – natural plants contributing to the green!

There is fusion food on offer, along with Punjabi. We had some delectable Chinese starters made with water chestnuts. (Singhada). Other specialties are: fusion tikka, Bhunna Gosht,Tandoori Garlic chicken / prawns, Kung pao Chicken Methi and Cheese Seekh kebab.

But the highlight is their Mutton Rogan Josh. Tender, succulent, not overtly spicy and just the right amount of gravy covering the mutton pieces. Other all time favourites of diners are Butter chicken, PBM and dal Makhani. To please the palette of Nagpurians they have done a lot of R&D and come up with their version of Saoji Chicken, made with desi chicken.

Two unique offerings which you will probably not get anywhere else are: their dal dhaba and ‘dal biryani’!! The dal dhaba is a secret combination of yellow and black dals and dal biryani has to be savoured, it cannot be described! Veg Handi is also a great choice for vegetarians.

What’s more Golden Harvest is open for breakfast too; starting at 7.30 a.m. you get the complete spread of eggs to order, toast, preserves, south Indian, parathas, tarri poha etc. at just Rs. 300/ plus GST.

Next time you miss breakfast on way to airport, this would be the ideal place to stop by and ‘break’ your ‘fast’!

From early breakfast to late lunch, or close to midnight dinner, Airport Centre point, never seems to close, just like the ‘airport’ in its name!
