“Ganga Jamuna Hatao Samiti” issues veiled warning to babus through 51-foot Gudhi

Nagpur: In a ‘veiled warning’ to District Administration, the “Ganga Jamuna Hatao Samiti” has erected a 51-foot tall Gudhi to mark celebration of Gudhi Padwa which ushers in beginning of Maharashtrian New Year. The Samiti has been staging agitations to remove the most infamous area of the city called Ganga Jamuna (Red Light). Also, 71-kg of ‘Prasad’ was distributed on the occasion.

Those present on the occasion put the District Administration on notice through the 51-foot Gudhi. They renewed their demand of getting rid of the prostitution profession being run from Ganga Jamuna area.

The dignitaries present on the occasion include MLAs Krushna Khopde, Vikas Kumbhare, MLC Girish Vyas, Corporators Manoj Chaple, Rajesh Ghodpage, Shradha Pathak, Vandana Yangatwar, Abha Pandey, Bunti Shelke and the citizens from the area including Pushpa Gudpalliwar, Vidya Rahate, Sarita Fukat, Bhumika Gotaphode, Pushpa Waghmare, Shweta Chaudhary, Sejal Pillewar Jyoti Umathe, Dipti Umathe, Panchfula Borsare and others.
