Nagpur: A gang of women robbers seems to be active in the city on the lines of bike-borne chain-snatchers. These con women are targeting co-passengers travelling in autos and looting them of gold ornaments, cash and other valuables with impunity. City is witnessing the kind of crimes on increase.

A 63-year old woman, Vidya Sureshchandra Nayak, resident of Mahal, boarded an auto in which two women were already seated. As the auto neared City Post Office in Itwari, the two women diverted Vidya’s attention and slyly removed gold mangalsutra worth Rs 40,000 she was wearing. Before Vidya could notice her mangalsutra missing, the two con women disembarked from the auto and vanished.

Tehsil police constable Chandrabhan has registered a case under Sections 392, 34 of the IPC and searching for the women robbers.

Notably, the cases of criminally minded women robbing co-passengers in autos have increased manifold in the city. Surprisingly, police have failed to crack a single case as one or two incidents of kind are reported almost daily.
