Fake bank officer dupes woman of Rs 61,485 in ATM card fraud

Nagpur: Unidentified person posed as a bank officer and duped a woman to the tune of Rs 61,485 in ATM card fraud. The bogus bank officer procured ATM card number and Aadhar card number of the woman and pilfered the amount through online shopping by using the vital information.

The Shivaji Nagar resident Kalpana Manekar told Kotwali police that she received a call on mobile phone from an unidentified man. The man posed himself as a bank officer and told Kalpana that he is carrying out verification of her ATM card. After winning Kalpana’s trust, the fake bank officer procured vital details of her ATM and Aadhar cards. Armed with the information, the bogus bank officer later went on shopping online and dented Kalpana’s bank account with Rs 61,485. When Kalpana came to know about her duping, she lodged a complaint with Kotwali police in this connection.

Cops have registered a case under the IPC and IT Act and looking for the fake bank officer.
