Standing true to his promise he made during his election campaign South West Nagpur MLA Devendra Fadnavis has accorded land ownership rights to slum dwellers. Fadnavis distributed the certificates to slum-dwellers on Wednesday
Many applications were submitted in the past to many leaders of various political parties since 2010. However, it was MLA Devendra Fadnavis who responded positively to this demand and after hearing the pleas, started working on the regularization of the plots. Regular pursuance of the efforts on regularization, under the leadership of MLA Devendra Fadnavis, and other office-bearers of the Kamgar Colony and Tukdoji Nagar Slum Dwellers Association, 82 plots of Kamgar Colony and Tukdoji Nagar were regularized in Phase-I.
The documents of the regularized plots were distributed by MLA Devendra Fadnavis to the slum dwellers on August 27, 2014.
Talking to Nagpur Today, MLA Devendra Fadnavis said that this effort is the fulfillment of the promise which he had made. He added that they will be doing the same for 8 other slum areas in the city. He claimed that once BJP comes to power in the state, many other slum areas in Nagpur city will get regularized.
He added that they have been trying for 4-5 years to get these plots regularized. On August 27, 2014, they distributed 82 plots and 200 more are pending. He said that once the residents pay land taxes, they too will get possession / ownership documents. Devendra Fadnavis claimed that nowhere has such an act been done and slum-dwellers’ plots regularized. Once this project succeeds, they (BJP) will carry out this project at National level too.
