Nagpur: Coming down heavily on Devendra Fadnavis Government, the veteran Vidarbha Statehood protagonist and an expert on region’s backlog Madhukar Kimmatkar found no difference between the previous Congress-NCP Government and the present dispensation. “In fact, the present government is more inactive and therefore has failed miserably on all fronts. The Fadnavis Government is not making efforts at all to remove backlog of Vidarbha. When Fadnavis was in Opposition, I used to seek crucial information regarding Vidarbha issues and raise them in the House. But now the Chief Minister has no time for Vidarbha. He has only time for inaugurating public contact offices of party MLAs,” quipped the former State minister sarcastically.

‘Mama,’ as is Madhukar Kimmatkar is called popularly, has prepared a memorandum for submitting to the Chief Minister. “If gives me time, I will certainly submit the memorandum to him,” Kimmatkar said and advised him to spare more time for resolving problems of Vidarbha rather than cutting ribbons.

Govt hiding accounts of money spent in Vidarbha:
Kimmatkar, who is seriving Vidarbha Statutory Development Board as its member, has decided to raise valid issues pertaining to neglect of Vidarbha every week and present the facts and figures before people through media. Talking to media on Tuesday (August 30), Mama highlighted the employment related issue. He says that like other fields, the employment sector is also besieged with backlog. “The Maharashtra Government had on June 20, 2015 had decided to set up a committee headed by Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar to study the employment backlog of Vidarbha. The committee was supposed to submit its report to Governor within two months. But it has not been done so far. Moreover, nobody has information regarding the work done by the committee. With this attitude of Fadnavis Government, I am frustrated as Vidarbha people had great expectations from this young Chief Minister. A question mark could be raised over the intention of Government as it is hiding information regarding Vidarbha issues,” Mama lamented.

“These very people who were charging the previous government of violating directives of Governor are themselves treading the same path. The Chief Minister is behaving in contempt of not only Governor but also disregarding directives of High Court. It is mandatory for State Government to follow the directives of Governor issued under Article 371/2 of Constitution. But still the share of Vidarbha’s funds are being diverted to other regions of State. And hiding this information from public is treachery,” Kimmatkar blasted.
