Nagpur:
As the date for elections in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) Contractors Welfare Association is nearing, the electoral fever is on the rise and various electoral strategies by the contestant groups are being worked out. While one group is much confident of sailing through smoothly, the other is moving forward very cautiously and steadily to ensure victory. The most electors in the 490-member body are in favour of electing dedicated and honest office-bearers of the Association.

According to sources, the Nayudu faction has 303 members while Ramzan faction has 205 members, after completion of their individual membership drive. When the final voter list was made there were 22 names which attracted objections. Election officers Aksah Moon and Pratik Mehta then called for disputed 22 applications of the contractors registered with the NMC. After scrutiny, 4 applications were found valid while 18 were found invalid, and thus they were accordingly rejected.
On July 21, the final voter list was publicized in which 490 names of registered voters were shown. Now, July 25 to 27 is slated for filing of nominations while July 28 is slated for scrutiny of nominations. The candidates will be able to withdraw their nominations on July 30, and the final list of contestants will be publicized on August 3, and the election will be held on August 11, 2015 with declaration of results the same day.
Important to mention is that in this election many corporators from ruling party and opposition, who are indirectly doing contractorship, are eager to raise their stature to gain something.
