Nagpur: Under the jurisdiction of Deolapar police station, the police on the basis of secret information, imposed a nakabandi and seized at Van Paoni, 4 kms away from Deolapar, on Sep 18, at about 9.30 pm, a utility vehicle illegally transporting the live stock, and also arrested the accused.
The accused driver is identified as Shahid Jalil Khan, 20, resident of Seoni, and he has been arrested while another accused is at large. The seizure includes cattle worth Rs 40,000 and the vehicle No. MH-40/ KR 8455, total seizure value worth Rs 3,90,000.
Deolapar police have registered a case against the accused under sections 11(1) of Cruelty to Animals Act read with 5(1), 2, 9 Protection of Animals Act while a hunt for the other accused is on. PSI (Crime Branch) Khaltale is further investigating the case.
