Cops seize scented gutkha; one arrested

Tehsil police have arrested a middle-aged man for illegally stocking scented gutkha. The arrest was made after Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) officials raided residence of the accused and lodged a complaint against him under Food Security Act 2006 which prohibits selling of scented gutkha from July 20, 2014 for one year.

Sources said the officials have seized scented gutkha worth Rs 26,025 from Mukesh Rajaram Gupta (32), a resident of Jagnath Budhwari, near Kailash Talkies. Officials informed that they received information selling and stocking of illegal gutkha after which they swung into action and raided at the residence of Gupta. Cops seized the illegal material worth Rs 26.025 and arrested Mukesh.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by FDA officer Suryakant Mahajan (42), a resident of Swagat Society, Khamla, Tehsil police have registered an offence under Sections 188, 273 and 328 of the IPC read with sub sections 26 (2) (1), 26 (2) (4), 27 (3) (9), 3 (1), 22 (5), and 59 of the Food Safety and Standard Act 2006.
