Nagpur: Nandanvan police on Tuesday night foiled a dacoity plan by arresting two members of a gang and recovering lethal weapons from them. Four other members managed to escape in darkness and are being hunted.
Acting swiftly over information that four suspicious persons had assembled at a dark spot behind Power House in Hiwri Nagar, PSI Thakur and his team rushed to the place and surrounded the gang. Noticing the cops approaching them, the gang members started fleeing. The cops chased them and succeeded in nabbing two accused. The arrested accused have been identified as Rahul Yadavrao Khurpude (25) and Nikhil Prakash Meshram (23), both residents of Hiwri Nagar. Those gang members who managed to escape are Niraj Bhoyar of Deshpande Layout, Sheikh Tausif alias Kalya of Chandmari and two other unidentified accused. Cops recovered a sword, two iron rods, chili powder, rope from the arrested accused.
Nandanvan WPSI S B Vagare booked the accused under Sections 399, 402 of the IPC and placed Rahul and Nikhil under arrest. Other four gang members are being hunted.
